SuperNova Remnant wins 13SRadio's "Indie Spotlight Top 100 of 2013"

Faith-based Christian rock band are crowned Indie Kings by 13SR

Christian rockers SuperNova Remnant took down the #1 Spot in this year's "Indie Spotlight Top 100 of 2013", capping a great year for the band. Hailing from Fort Worth Texas, SuperNova Remnant has a story to tell in their unlikely rise to prominence across the hard rock scene. Founding members Robbie Gustin (lead guitar/vocals) and James McLester (drums/vocals) both have near-death experiences in their past. Both lived the rock and roll lifestyle to the extreme until they were faced with death, which brought them around to a new path in their lives and music.

SuperNova Remnant was founded in 2003, and have gone through several lineup changes since the band's inception. They are currently a three piece act with Robbie Gustin on lead guitar and vocals, James McLester on drums and vocals, and Steve Knight on bass. They've been featured on KVRK Power 89.7FM out of Dallas-Fort Worth, including live in-studio performances. In June of 2013 they opened for Christian-Mega Rockers Stryper at the Granada Theater in Dallas and have played many live concerts to local, national, and faith-based audiences around the country. They are working on finishing the studio release of their album "Worship and Warfare", and are currently Unsigned and looking for label representation to help spread the word of SuperNova Remnant.

Mixing thunderous guitars, soaring vocals, and pounding drums, 13SR is proud to announce that SuperNova Remnant are the winners of the Top 100 of 2013, and deserve every accolade and offer that comes their direction. They are tirelessly dedicated to their craft and represent the best of only a small handful of bands that make a successful crossover into Worship Rock. They have a strong following, and their fan base is equally dedicated, helping them garner nearly five thousand votes in the Indie Spotlight poll, far and away the leaders of the pack over the 99 other bands who were nominated.

An Excerpt from James McLester's interview with Modern Drummer Magazine:

"When I was young, I auditioned for my school’s concert band, where I served as president and first-chair trombonist. I learned to sight-read and perform with an orchestra—yet I longed to play rock ’n’ roll. My cousin introduced me to Journey, AC/DC, and Van Halen. I traded in my trombone for a nice Tama Brazilian kit and enrolled in private lessons from Chuck Whitby, Warren White (studio, Ice Capades), and Ron McDonald (UTA drum instructor) at Grant’s Drum City in Irving, Texas.

Vinnie Paul of Pantera would frequent Grant’s when the band was on the rise in our local scene. I quickly went from teen clubs to opening up for Pantera at area venues before their worldwide rise to fame. My influences include John Bonham, Stewart Copeland, Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio, Alex Van Halen, Tommy Lee, Buddy Rich, and Gene Krupa."
